snow ice cream

i had never even heard of snow ice cream, but a friend of mine posted the recipe so we had to try it. first we had to find 1 gallon of CLEAN snow.
then we added 1 cup of sugar, 2 cups of milk, and 1 tbsp of vanilla

we mixed it well and waa-laa!
homemade ice cream...yummy!

abram was napping while we played in the snow and made the ice cream so he got to enjoy it later as a bedtime snack. of course sprinkles were a must and he loved it!

snow day!

our house covered in a foot of snow...
the sun came out and so did we!

oliver wasn't too sure at first since the snow was deeper than him! but he played out with us the whole time.

the snow wasn't packable, so we made a snow fort instead of a snowman.

note to self...2 hours in the snow is probably not a good idea for ollie. he had snow stuck to all of his hair and it wouldn't come off until it melted. needless to say, he was shivering for a long time...and shedding tiny snowballs everywhere he went!

xray

you'd think with 3 boys we would've already had a few ER trips to check for broken bones...fortunately, yesterday was our first. on sunday night abram decided to launch himself off of the coffee table and must've landed wrong. he told me right away "my foot is hurtin'!!" and sure enough, he wouldn't walk on it. i gave him some motrin and put him to bed hoping it was just sore and he'd be fine in the morning. not so...he woke up screaming and wouldn't get out of bed. he kept saying, "i can't walk!" i called the pediatrician's office and took him in for an xray. the doctor was more concerned about his tibia than his foot and saw an area of concern on the xray, but was pretty sure it was okay. she wrapped him up in what he called his "elmo bandaid" because it was red and sent us home to wait for the final read from the radiologist. thankfully, later that evening she called and said it was normal. today, he's limping, but saying it doesn't hurt, so i think we're in the clear! i'm sure this won't be the last time we have an experience like this. in the meantime, i think he, and his brothers, are convinced NOT to jump off the furniture anymore! how cute is his little leg all wrapped up?!!
he was worn out after fighting the radiology tech during his xrays. she warned me that he'd probably have bruises on his legs from where she had to hold him so tight...poor guy!

38

yep, i'm married to an old man ;) he's pretty cute though and we kinda like him around here, so we'll claim him as the best daddy/husband around! happy birthday, babe!
we sang to him and made him a cute little dessert (which definitely could not hold 38 candles!) before he had to go to work tonight :(

stickerz

i was informed that this is why they're called STICKERZ. of course, i immediately had visions of eli sitting at the school lunch table looking like this. his response..."no way, mom! i don't wanna get in trouble. i'll just do it at home". thanks for clarifying, buddy ;) so basically a fruit rollup cut into cool shapes= great fun, especially for crazy boys!

twister

we figured out why this game says "ages 6 and over"...
these little legs simply cannot stretch that far! boy, they tried though & still loved it!
we even got maw maw to join in on the fun :) oliver provided an extra challenge to the game by always being right underneath the foot/hand you needed to move!

his explanation..."because".

you can't make this stuff up

i came downstairs from doing laundry and caleb had put the dog on his leash. i said, "caleb, whatcha doin'?" his reply..."i put the choker on ollie so he'll lay with me on the couch. it's okay if he tries to get up cuz he'll just choke himself." oh my goodness! poor dog. what makes this even better is that caleb actually put the leash on himself and wanted abram to walk him around the house like a dog!! i couldn't get the camera fast enough to get a picture of it though. never a dull moment.
i don't think caleb would be laughing if he could see ollie's face in this one!
and he finally submits...

my warning

moms of baby boys...soon your baby will be a preschooler and with that many changes will occur. one which i have witnessed recently is a significant change in vocabulary. every sentence your son will say will soon have the words, "poopy", "butt", or "pee pee" in it. it will never be appropriate and even normal conversations will be interrupted with these words. one of them will become dominant, such as "poopy" in our house. this seems to be a long phase and may even rub off on any toddler, or even older children, in the home. i suggest an economy size bottle of tabasco sauce.
