gotta love 3 year olds!

tonight as i was leaving sam's club with the boys, i did the routine of handing my receipt to the lady standing at the exit door. well, to put it nicely this lady was very unattractive. almost looked like she had halloween paint on her face because the dark circles were so incredibly bad. my kids don't usually comment on anyone's appearance, but tonight was the exception. we had gone about 5 feet from the woman towards the 2nd set of doors and caleb looked at me with his innocent, big brown eyes and said in a very concerned manner, "mommy, she has a horrible face." what do you say?!! of course i did the expected, "well baby, God makes all different kinds of people, so somebody probably thinks she's beautiful...or maybe she's just really sick". then after he was buckled into the van and i was out of sight, i had to just crack up! this is what all of you parents of toddlers get to look forward to!
oh, and then as i was bathing abram tonight, he kept saying, "mommy, diaper, poopy". i sort of ignored it as i was washing the other boys up in the shower. well he just kept saying it and then eli said, "look in the tub, mom! it's a turd!!" poor abram was trying to warn me what was coming i guess! never a dull moment in this house, that's for sure!

lil vacation

holiday world was wonderful! we had a blast despite the heat. we stayed in a cabin with maw maw & paw paw at camp rudolf for 2 nights and spent 2 days at the park. because we forgot about the time difference in southern indiana, we had a little time to kill the 1st day before check in at the campsite so we got to play some miniature golf. the boys loved that and eli even got a hole-in-one. the rides at holiday world were perfect for the boys. caleb rode on his 1st roller coaster in the kiddie land and eli rode ALL 3 BIG roller coasters!! abram even enjoyed his fair share of rides. the water park was perfect when it got too hot. we spent lots of time going down the water slides, but of course i couldn't get any pictures of it without risking the life of my camera. abram would just giggle every time he went down and at the end would say, "again, again!"
ps. if you'd like to see more pictures from our trip, just click on the title 'lil vacation' and it should take you to a slideshow.

boat ride

today we went out to heritage lake to celebrate my cousin's baby's 1st birthday. it sure was hot, but we didn't mind because we got to ride on michael's boat! eli kept asking, "when is he gonna go fast?" and then when we did he was lovin' it!! he got right up in front and looked like an old pro. happy 1st birthday, brylee!
ps. note: the boys are in their chipmunk colors thanks to our neighbor. she told them dave delivered them to her house for the boys after she actually made them...dyed the green shirt and ironed on the "A". she's awesome!!

cheap entertainment

i had some visitors this evening at work...the boys got to ride the monorail from daddy's work (methodist) to mommy's work (iu). they've been wanting to ride the "bullet train" for awile, so they were super excited. they got to see where mommy works, meet my boss, visit ronald mcdonald over at riley, and even eat dinner outside by some amusing squirrels. very fitting since they're infatuated with the chipmunks right now. who would've thought that clarian health could provide such excitement for our children!

3 chipmunks

before i post our zoo pictures from today, i have a little explaning to do. the boys are fascinated with alvin and the chipmunks right now. they have essentially become the chipmunks...caleb is alvin, eli is simon, and abram is theodore. this means that when eli and caleb pick out their clothes for the day, eli has to have some sort of blue on, caleb has to have some kind of red, and poor abram gets whatever green clothing his brothers can find for him. today when it was time to go to the zoo, eli still had on these paper glasses that he found which are tinted green and all scratched up. so i decided to let him pick out an old pair of mine that he thought would be appropriate for "simon" to wear and we just popped the lenses out of them. i didn't realize that he would actually wear them the whole day! he looked very cute, but i'm sure people were wondering what this little boy was doing with glasses on with no lenses. he, of course, had to wear a blue hat since we didn't have anymore blue shirts clean and caleb had to wear red. they had a green hat picked out for abram, but abe decided to wear the hat he loves instead. oh, and if you see them anytime soon, make sure you call them by their chipmunk name or they may not answer you!

zoo

what a perfect, beautiful day to go to the zoo!! the boys are at great ages now to actually enjoy the zoo, so we had a wonderful time. there were a lot of cute pictures from our trip so i put a link to a slideshow of some of them. just click on the title "zoo" and it should take you there!

old friends

our neighbors, dave & patti, who moved away last summer came into town this weekend so we were able to enjoy their company for a little cookout. abram was/is very shy, but quickly warmed up to dave after he shared a few cookies with him. after church on sunday he went right to dave and the next thing we knew, abram was asleep on his shoulder. precious...
