i heard crying and "oh no, caleb", from abram...went to the shower to find caleb with blood dripping from what looked like his eye. after further investigation, he had slipped in the shower and sliced his eyelid on the side of the tub. thankfully, our friend/neighbor who is an ER nurse had some dermabond to fix it up for us...saved us a hefty bill & long night in the ER :) thanks, susie!!

5 months
my 5 month old baby girl is finally rolling over...well, kind of. she will only roll from belly to back and only do so when she's put in her crib to sleep! of course, she can't figure out how to get back to her belly, so she prefers to squeal & have a mini freak out about it. it has definitely interfered with her fabulous sleeping habits. all temporary, i know, so no need to get excited about it. when she does decide to fall asleep after flipping over, she looks quite adorable though...

i finally gave in and started some rice cereal today which was a huge success. i actually had to make more because she did so great with it & definitely got mad when the spoon stopped.

she still loves to be in the sling & frequently falls asleep in it on our weekly grocery trips together. she enjoys rotating between the jumperoo, bouncy seat, and playmat throughout her awake times. the bumbo also comes in handy when i'm in the kitchen...she likes to watch me cook & is easily entertained by the boys at mealtimes.
as i mentioned before, she's had some rough days of napping because of the rolling, but i really can't complain. she still sleeps about 10-12 hours at night and takes about 3 naps a day. she sucks on her knuckles & puts herself right to sleep most of the time.
her hair, oh her hair...i think she's almost shed all of her newborn hair! all except the mohawk/rattail she has goin on in the back. i've been very tempted to trim it just to even it out a little, so we'll see. pretty soon she'll look completely different as the lighter hair starts comin in! most people who knew eli as a baby say she looks like him. others who knew me as a baby say she looks just like i did. who knows...she's perfect in our eyes & such a sweet, sweet baby girl :)

3rd grade
eli was the last to start school this year...my big 3rd grader!! his teacher warned us that 3rd grade is a tough year because they expect them to learn so many new things. of course, he's most excited to learn cursive writing. he has several friends in the class and is already making new ones. his teacher seems very compassionate about her work and i'm sure it'll be a great year for him!

preschool
here is our new preschooler!! although abram is a very social child, i was a little concerned that he would have a hard time parting ways with me on his 1st day, but he handled it like a pro!! he walked in without even looking back and had a wonderful 1st day of preschool. his best buddy/cousin, molly, is in his class and she was having a rough time so he took her by the hand and kept her by his side the whole 3 hours. he said, "it's ok, molly. they have mr. potato heads, it's really great!" he patted on her back & kept reassuring her...so proud of my considerate, thoughtful little man.
