soccer this fall is heavy duty...2 practices a week and then a game on saturday. that's big time for us! they're learning so much more though and having lots of fun.

12 weeks

my 1st trimester is coming to an end and i'm starting to feel better :) i had my ob appointment last week and everything was great, although dr. j couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler! she was confident all was well in there though, so we headed to the ultrasound room to take a peek. no wonder she couldn't find it, this baby was wiggling all over the place. we got to see a very cute little profile of the little peanut and it's arm buds moving up towards it's face. it even arched it's back up at one point like it was jumping because of something. very exciting & made it all so much more real! here's the profile shot we got...

baby's status: heartbeat was strong, but dr. j didn't count it. she was just relieved to see & hear it and watch a very active baby! by this point, everything has developed on our little one. now it's just a matter of growing & growing some more.
mom's status: gettin' a bump, for sure! feeling less nausea and just excited to begin the 2nd trimester. still haven't had any real cravings, but fruit has been a favorite...fresh pineapple= yummy!! the ponytail holder still works, but i'm thinking some maternity pants might be in the VERY near future.

we had a perfect saturday by the pool for my birthday celebration. a great way to spend the last weekend of summer!

the boys had a blast with jerry picking out some new kitchen gadgets for me. i guess abram grabbed a hold of this ginormous container of cookie cutters and was ready to bake cookies with me that night!

jerry had this "non-girly" ice cream cake made...very thoughtful and yummy!!

God has blessed me way more than i deserve, no doubt!!!

it was abram's turn this week for the dreaded tonsil & adenoid removal. he was very brave & cooperative before surgery. the hard part came when they took him away from us and he got so upset. they did let him take his blanket & "friends" with him, so that made us feel better. after surgery, he came out kicking, screaming, and VERY restless. in fact, they came out and got me earlier than expected because they needed me to try to calm him down! i think part of his agitation was the fact that his IV was in his left hand which meant his thumb was inaccessible. when you're trying to comfort yourself and you don't have your favorite thumb, you tend to get a little feisty. poor guy did settle down with momma and once the tylenol kicked in, he ate 5 popsicles! we stayed our 4 hours and got the heck outta there. he's been getting tylenol around the clock ever since the surgery and has done fairly well. he's still a tad clingy/fussy, but he's very good at telling you that his throat hurts and when he wants medicine. he's definitely lacking in the energy department, but overall he's been a real trooper. hopefully this surgery will make for a healthier winter for him this year.
